 MS HENNESSY
One of Red Room’s all-time favourites, it’d be pretty accurate to describe Ms Hennessey as the queen of RnB and hip hop in Sydney. If we had a Hip Hop Hall of Fame she’d be #1 inductee. In an incredibly busy career she’s not only DJ’d at all the best events, making the pace for all DJs who followed, but she’s been a broadcaster and writer for several years too, setting the standard with her Clubflavas radio show (nearly 10 years and still going strong) and writing features for Urban Hitz and her Clubflavas column in 3D World. What’s especially great about all this is that Ms Hennessey covers the whole scene, especially local and unsigned artists, right alongside US and other international acts. |

In her own words, Ms Hennessey is, “Passionate about the education and positive promotion of hip hop and its culture in Australia. I love having the opportunity to help unearth new artists by writing about them, playing their music on radio and definitely bringing my unique playlist when I spin at clubs around town. In short I’m blessed to be a strong female in the hip hop scene, living a life of purpose!
“Who would I like to meet? I’m lucky to be able to say I have met many artists that I could only have dreamed about when I was younger. However there is still plenty of time left so my dream list would still read: Queen Latifah, Mary J Blige, Angela Bassett, LL Cool J, Russell Simmons, Oprah, Maya Angelou..." |
